It turns out planning a convention is a TON of work! I've been working with ACE TN to get Anime Maryville, a Tennessee convention up and running.
Haha but then I got my new Gacha catalog and it was a nice break to look through. Wanna see some of whats coming up? Of course if your local Gacha Shop is ordering today, its probably not gonna be in stock until May-June. Depending on where you live, to see these in March you're either really close to Japan or your local dealer pre-ordered months ago!
1. Metal Gear Solid
I'll
be honest, with titles like this I'm always apprehensive. While the
hardcore fans always appreciate items from their favorite series, the
items are sadly often not very 'good'. But this upcoming set I'm pretty
happy to see. We've got Ruber straps of Snake from almost every game and
the stand alone, getting prettier every time he appears - Raiden. My
favorite is the one with DDog, because of course it is, but the one with
the Alligator hat from Snake Eater is a close second.
2. Fate/Grand Order
Here
comes Fate to prove my point of kind of disappointing releases.
Hardcore Fate fans will probably buy these but overall I can't hope to
sell a whole machine of them. While Fate absolutely dominates the merch
scene, things like this are bound to happen. Sorry to any fans that
follow me, I won't be picking these up. I can't think of any of my
fellow vendors that will either, this may be an E-Bay pick for anyone
looking for them. Though to be honest, I'm almost positive I've seen
something really similar in non-gacha form so you could probably pick
something similar up at any Fate-carrying Anime Shop.
3. Stuffed Cat Toys – Purrfect Cuteness
Who
doesn’t love a cuddly little cat plush? Cat toys have always been a big
part of the Gacha scene but more and more lately these 'cat toys' are
literal CAT TOYS. Perhaps due to the decline in birthrate and the rise
in pet ownership people are buying gacha toys on their way home for
their four-legged family members. I've heard of some machines being
filled with treats for various types of pet as well.
These are small build-able dragons that are highly articulated. These small, whimsical dragon figures come in various colors and styles, their mass of joints makes them highly poseable. The vibrant hues and intricate details make these little dragons both fierce and charming, and their wings are especially cute! While they're not my favorite dragons, but I'll probably pick some up.
5. Hatsune Miku Kata-zun
The Hatsune Miku Kata-zun
figures dropping this March feature the virtual diva and her friends in
a variety of colorful outfits and adorable chibi forms. The weird part?
My Catalog has no pop sheet! I have no idea what characters will be
featured, This is the 3rd set of Vocaloid Kata-zun, and of 8 figures
Miku has been 3 of them. So it will probably have at least one more
Miku, from there, no idea. Rin, Len, Kaito, Meiko and Luka are the other
5, so they may have new outfits and return, or it may be some who
haven't been featured yet. Gakupo rarely gets featured, and when was the
last time we saw Gumi or Teto? Guess we'll see what comes out.
6. Izakaya Menu Eyecatch Charms
Everyone's
watched an anime where after work they head to a cute little bar for
some drinks and food. That's an Izakaya, these charms are made to
feature common menu items found at these Izakaya. They're cute and
certainly unique, but the part I'm really appreciating is the inclusion
of the lobster claw clasp in the strap. These items mounted on a ring
make a lot of sense in Japan where the culture is to just leave
something like a bag, drink, or umbrella at the front of a store,
restaurant or what have you. But in America these are such a hard sell
because leaving these items types of items somewhere like that is
tantamount to giving it away. So these personal marker rings are very
hard to sell, and if your a Bandai vendor they've been REALLY heavy on
these lately. The lobster clasp allows it to come off the ring and just
be a cute charm to decorate whatever you like
